NIGEL VALDEZ, cff®
Over the past 21 years, Nigel Valdez has become a known and recognized financial planner for Federal employees, especially USPS and VA employees, in the Southwest & Texas. He spent several years traveling around the United States helping Federal employee clients optimize their FERS benefits, Social Security, and investments, as an insurance agent. In 2016 years ago he passed the Series 65 exam and became the second Certified Financial Fiduciary in Arizona. He is also an educator with the American Financial Education Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to financial literacy education, as well as a principal in his company, Valdez Financial Group, where he works to promote socially responsible investment.
Considering Nigel’s childhood, it is not surprising that he chose this field.
His father was a math teacher who, like Nigel, loves to teach others about how numbers, math and money work.
His mother is a hospice nurse, who understands the importance of end-of-life decisions and planning. She spends her time with those who are at one of the most important junctures of their lives. She reports that those who die with the most dignity have faced the end of life with prior planning and decision making.
His stepfather was a career federal employee; a civil servant accountant for AAFES (Army and Airforce exchange service). The way his stepfather cared for the military and civilian clients that he served, as well as the way the old federal system cared for him when he retired, showed him the lasting benefit of caring for those people who have spent their careers caring for others.
Now that the federal system requires its employees to take individual responsibility for their retirement plans, a solid financial plan is the best way to care for you and your family.
